Due to the strong element of 'mutants' with super abilities throughout the film and throughout the whole franchise this is a very strong link to our own film.

The fact that the main character, Steve Rodgers, is genetically changed and that is how he gains his powers something which is very similar what happens to the main character of our own film.
The Amazing Spider-Man
The way that Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive, genetically changed, spider and that is how he gains his powers is very similar to our own film.
